Darell Vagle, 78

Darell A. Vagle, 78, Lancaster, Minn., passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock, Minn. Thursday evening, July 7, 2016.  
Darell Arden Vagle was born April 7, 1938 in Poppleton Township of Kittson County to Olaf Arthur and Nellie (Eggerud) Vagle. He grew up on the family farm and attended Lancaster School.  
On September 9, 1961 he was united in marriage to Donna Bell in Hallock. They settled in Poppleton Township and lived there five years before moving into Lancaster.  They eventually returned to the home farm and retired  in 1992.   Darell was a lifelong farmer and raised dairy and beef cattle as well as small grains.  He was a member of Sion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Melissa Smith, Centennial, Colo.; Troy (Becky) Vagle, Hallock and Nicole Vagle, Long Beach, Calif.; four grandsons, Jacob, Alex, Austin and Trey; a granddaughter, Bay; brother, Merle (Jean) Vagle, New Brighton, Minn.; sisters, Darlene Balderson, Lancaster, Marlys Larson, St. Paul and Virginia (David) Doft, Livermore, Colo.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Darrol Lynn and a brother, Vernon Dale.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Melodi Hagen, presiding; Jacki Przekwas, organist and Owen Swenson, soloist. Honorary casket bearers were Robert Boychuk, Russell Phillips, James Wallenberg, Rodney Potrament, Luverne Isaacson and Curtis Cedergren.
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements.
