Carolyn Marie Parrish, 79
Carolyn Marie Parrish, 79, passed away suddenly in Grand Forks, N.D. July 9, 2016 while on a visit to her dear sister Sandy in their hometown of Lancaster, Minn.
She was born December 24, 1936, the third of five children of Walter Peterson and Edith Hoglin Peterson.
She was married to Leon Thomas Parrish Jr. for 32 years until his death in 1996.
Carolyn attended the University of Minnesota where she studied English literature and studied for a master’s degree in Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
She was a dedicated and serious reader all of her days, a loving friend, and she had a sense of humor that always kept her children laughing. She was also a brave two-time survivor of breast cancer, and a member of the congregation at South Fork Church of Christ.
Surviving are her three sisters, Yvonne Keeler, Sandy Peterson and Terry Nygard; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Parrish; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Bowers; her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Lisa Parrish; and her daughter and son-in-law Emily and Andrew Bowers. She was a deeply devoted grandmother who adored her grandchildren: Delaney Parrish; Tanner, Ryan and Landon Parrish; Hugh and Pearse Bowers; and Graham and Paul Bowers.
Interment services were held Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at 12 noon in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Melodi Hagen, presiding.
