Katherine L. Foss, 88

Katherine L Foss, 88, Park Rapids, Minn., died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at the Heritage Living Center, Park Rapids.
Katherine Lucille Moe was born to Helen (Ulring/Anonby) and John Moe on April 22, 1928, and lived with her family on a farm in Thompson Township, Kittson County, east of Hallock, Minn. She graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minn., in 1948.
Katherine was united in marriage to Ellsworth Foss on April 22, 1949. Following their marriage, Katherine and Ellsworth lived in Longville, Va., Staples and Park Rapids, Minn., where they settled in 1961. They had five children: Beverly, Susan, Paul, Ronald, and Gregory.
At various times during her years in Park Rapids, Katherine worked at Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids Middle School, a tree nursery (summers), and a yarn shop.
Katherine’s activities centered around her family. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She worked with Cub Scouts and Bluebirds. She was a wonderful cook and the coffee pot was always on at her home.
Katherine is survived by her five children: Beverly (Donald) Bernhagen, West Fargo, N.D.; Susan (William) Dahl, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Paul (Teresa) Foss, West St. Paul, Minn.; Ronald (Beverly) Foss, Burnsville, Minn.; and Gregory Foss, Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, six great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, her sister-in- law, Florence Ristad, Hallock, Minn.; and num-erous nephews and nieces.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellsworth, in 1990; sister, Josephine (Emory) Cameron; sister- and brother-in-law, Margaret and John Karol; and brothers and sisters-in- law, Elmer and Vera Moe, and Marlowe and Katherine Moe. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helga and George Gillie, Arnold and Lenore Foss, Ferdie Ristad, Victor and Kay Foss, and Floyd and Bonnie Foss.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids, Minn. Visitation was held Wednesday eve from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Cease family Funeral Home, Park Rapids, with a public prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation was also held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Pastor Stephen Norby was the officiant. Interment was held at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery near Dorset, Minn.
