Dorothy Agnes Jenkins, 80

Dorothy Agnes Jenkins, 80, West Fargo, ND died Feb. 9, 2017 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Dorothy was born Oct. 13, 1936, in Hallock, Minn., the fourth of eight children born to Stanley and Elvina (Olsen) Jenkins. She was raised in rural Hallock and graduated from Hallock High School.
Dorothy continued her education in the field of radiology. She worked as an x-ray tech, head of the x-ray department at St. John’s Hospital, as well as training many students in the field. Dorothy was highly regarded in the field of x-ray earning many awards and recognitions.
In later years with each hospital stay, Dorothy would enjoy talking and sharing stories with the radiology staff over the procedures as well as marvel at the advances made over the years. Work was an important part of Dorothy’s life legacy. Dorothy also worked as legal support staff.
Dorothy was a member of the West Fargo Community Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship with the Circle ladies, the card group, and the coffee table after church, before going out for lunch with some of the church ladies group. Sundays were a special day.
Dorothy’s most important role and lasting legacy was that of “Aunt Dorothy”; and she cherished that role. All of her nephews and nieces and “greats” were the top priority for her. Sunday night suppers were spent with Brent and family…lasagna was great; meatloaf not so good! Brent, Carrie and the boys added meaning to life for Dorothy in her retirement years as she watched them grow… and they both were richer for this time together.
Dorothy is survived by sister-by-choice, Mary Jenkins, Hallock; six siblings, Lorna Daniels, Fairfax, Va; Edith Milbridge, Edina, Minn.; Mary (Alan) Sargeant, Jamestown, N.D.; Anna (Larry) Glad, Omaha, Neb.; Bill (Nancy) Jenkins, Crosby, Minn.; Carol (Jerry) Kalinowski, Alexandria, Minn.; 14 nieces and nephews, Sue (Glen) Milbridge, Jeri (Andy) Elder, Tom (Janyce) Daniels, Janet Daniels, Glen Sargeant, Lynn Sargeant, Jim Glad, Julie (Todd) Evans, Brian (Dawn) Jenkins, Brent (Carrie) Jenkins, Mike (Natalyia) Kalinowski, Melissa Kalinowski, Mary Kalinowski, Jennifer Kalinowski; 10 great nieces and nephews, Sarah Elder, Katie Elder, Joshua Daniels, Amanda Sargeant, Emily Sargeant, Kayla Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, John Jenkins and Adam Jenkins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John R. Jenkins and two brothers-in-law, Roy Milbridge and Jerry Daniels.
Memorial services were held Saturday, March 4, 2017, 10 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo, with visitation held one hour prior to the service.
Her final resting place will be Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.
