Ronald K. Ryden, 59

Ronald K. Ryden, 59,  Kennedy, Minn., passed away at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, N.D., Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Ronald Keith Ryden was born January 19, 1958 to Earl and Fay (Younggren) Ryden at Warren, Minna. He was baptized at the Northcote Presbyterian Church and a current member of Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy.  Ron attended kindergarten and 1st grade in Kennedy, 2nd grade in Roseau, 3rd through 9th grades in Crookston and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1976 after the family had returned to the area.  Ron also attended East Grand Forks Technical College.
Ron and Mary (Garfve) were married April 21, 1979 and had enjoyed 37 years together.  For the past 10 years they enjoyed their Vikings – Packers rivalry!
Ron was employed at Mayville Motors, Mayville, N.D.; John Bogestad Farms, Donaldson, Minn.; Kennedy Harvest States Elevator for 10 years and at Kennedy Farmers Elevator for the past 27 years, where he enjoyed the morning round table discussions with area farmers.
Ron had a kind soul and enjoyed doing unselfish acts of kindness for others. He always wanted everyone to be happy.  As we know, Ron enjoyed the family farm, which truly brought him security and happiness, his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutless, hunting and Rex and A.J. (the family pets). He watched classic television shows and of course the weather channel, as he always had to be prepared to shovel snow or mow the lawn.  Family and friends looked forward to his jokes and entertainment.
Ron will be sadly missed by Mary; his mother, Fay; sister Beth (Rod) Stark, nephews, Jesse Stark and Cameron Mortenson; sister, Debbie and brother, Dane, nephews, Mitchell and Robert and niece, Kayla Ryden. Ron is also survived by his aunts, Marly (Bob) Peterson, Mary Pinnock, Joan (Lowell) Gordon, Melba Younggren and special cousins; sisters-in-law, Betty Olson, Arlene (Glenn) Palm, Doris (Larry) Nelson, Millie Magnan, Lorraine Efteland; brother-in-law, Gordon Garfve and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Earl (Nov. 8, 2014), grandparents, Art and Ella Ryden and Luke and Olive Younggren; uncles, Bob Ryden, Peter Pinnock and Duane Younggren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Willis Bjorgaard. Like his dad, Ron was a simple man who enjoyed time with his family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Visitation was held at the church Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
