Maureen Nicholson, 78
Maureen Carol Nicholson, Lancaster, Minn., passed away at the Karlstad Healthcare Center, Karlstad Minn., Tuesday May 30, 2017.
Maureen Carol Wilebski was born in Hallock, Minn., January 6, 1939, the daughter of William and Ruth (Norland) Wilebski. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in St. Joseph Township and Lancaster.
On February 9, 1959, she married Richard (Dick) Roy Nicholson in the Senate Chambers of the South Dakota State Capital.
Dick and Maureen moved back to Lancaster in the spring of 1959 to be closer to family. A few years later they moved to the farm in Richardville Township. During the summer months she could be found in the field working with Dick. She loved to travel, fish, cook, read and spend time with family. There was always coffee and a light snack on the table when neighbors came to visit.
Maureen was a member of Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster and enjoyed making Smorgasbord Lefsa with the ladies.
Maureen is survived by her husband Dick, daughters Colleen (Tim) Toebe, Sartel, Minn.; Crystal (Greg) Peterson, Lancaster, Minn.; LuCinda (Mike) Hanson, Euless, Tex.; Grandchildren, Krystal (Michael) Peterson, Tanner (Cheryl) Wightman, Shane Peterson, Kori Wightman, Hannah Hanson, Lexi Peterson and four great grandchildren; siblings Karen (Jim) Muir and Fred Wilebski.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Funeral services were held Sunday June 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Minn. Visitation were held at the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Kathy Levenhagen and Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; Jacki Przekwas, organist and Galen Nordin, soloist. Casket bearers will be Tim Toebe, Greg Peterson, Mike Hanson, C.J. Peterson, Mike Peterson and Tim Peterson.
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements.
