David Hultgren, 86

   David Hultgren, 86, a lifelong Kennedy, Minn. farmer, passed away at Kittson Memorial Health-care Center, Hallock, Minn., Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.
David Dale Hultgren was born May 8, 1931 on the Hultgren family homestead in Jupiter Township to David and Lillian (Johnson) Hultgren. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mission Covenant Church. Dale attended Enok school until the 8th grade when he transferred to Kennedy High School, graduating in 1950. From 1953 to 1955 he served in the U.S. Army.
On June 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Ettie Cole in Warroad, Minn. Dale and Ettie settled on the home farm and have lived there for the past 57 years. In addition to farming Dale worked the campaigns at American Crystal Sugar Company from 1965 to 1996 when he retired. He was a member of the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church, Kennedy.
Dale is survived by his wife, Ettie; a son, Bob (Nona) Hultgren, Thief River Falls, Minn.; daughters, Jodi Hultgren, Shoreview, Minn., and Janna (Damon) Highly, Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren, Sarah (Nathan) Dahlin, Christian (Carissa) Hultgren, Devin Highly and Britta Highly; three great grandchildren, Norah, Aubrey and Liam; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Adele Hultgren, LeeVila Wallsten and Ferne Berg.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church, Kennedy. Interment was in Jupiter Cemetery, rural Kennedy. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Grosz, presided; Shannon Christenson, pianist; Ron Fossell, soloist. Casket bearers were Bob Hultgren Chris Hultgren, Nathan Dahlin, Leonard Reed, Damon Highly and Phil Bengtson.
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements.
