Lois Winters, 77

    Lois Winters, 77, Lancaster, Minn., passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock, Minn., Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018.
Lois Eileen Skinner was born to Searl and Adelia (Franklin) Skinner May 31, 1940 at the family home west of Donaldson, Minn. She grew up at Donaldson and attended school in Kennedy, Minn.  On Dec. 26, 1967 she married Merlyn Winters at Lancaster.  Lois worked as a CNA at the Hallock Nursing Home and later  Kittson Memorial Nursing Home for over 39 years.   She entered Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center because of failing health in 2014.   Lois loved children  and enjoyed helping at the Nickel Scramble and Halloween parties in Lancaster. She was also fond of listening to the Popple Ridge Pickers sing.
Family members include her husband, Merlyn; a daughter, Debra (Dennis) Newell, Lancaster; two grandsons, Jeremy (Heidi) Skinner, Bemidji, Minn.m and  Dennis (Leeann) Newell Jr., Karlstad, Minn.; 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a sister, Stella (Ervin) Gorsuch, Hallock; two brothers, Richard (Judy) Skinner, Pembina, N.D. and Dale (Linda) Skinner, Farmington, Minn.; good friends, Sandy Nordstrom and Galen Nordin; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie Johnson; and brothers, Clifford, Kenneth, Orville, Larry, Melvin and Melford.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Lancaster Covenant Church. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service.  Casket bearers were Scott Gorsuch, Dennis Newell Jr., Colton Newell, Anton Budziszewzski,  Curtis Sjostrand and Bradley Kulyk. Special music was provided by Janelle Hostrup, Faye Potrament,  Galen and Julie Nordin and Kris and Don Thorlacius.
