John H. Nolte, 87, of Pembina, N.D., passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, N.D.
John H. Nolte was born Sept. 24, 1930 at Hallock, Minn., to Victor and Myrtle (Johnston) Nolte. John was baptized in the St. Vincent Methodist Church and was confirmed on April 13, 1941. He grew up and attended school at St. Vincent, Minn., and graduated from Pembina High School in 1948.
On Nov. 23, 1949, John married Patricia “Pat” Cameron at St. Vincent. They lived in St. Vincent after their marriage and from 1953 to 1973 lived in Neche, N.D., and then moved to their home in Pembina. In 1947, John began farming and farmed in the Neche and St. Vincent areas. In 2006 he was inducted to the Minnesota Century Farms Program. John was a member of the Neche and Pembina United Methodist Churches. He enjoyed curling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; children: Gregory (Theresa) Nolte, Pembina; Jerry (Marlene) Nolte, Edina, Minn.; Cheri Askew (Dewey Reynolds), Cavalier, N.D.; grandchildren: Alan (Jodi) Nolte, Michelle (Cory) Fairchild, John D. Nolte, Becky (Jordan) Feltman, Patrick (Sadie) Askew, Anthony (Alyssa) Askew, Nicole Askew; great-grandchildren: Isaac and Samuel Nolte; Evy, Aly, Izy, Renz, and Culley Fairchild; and David Nolte. Also survived by his sister, Charlotte (Dean) Anderson.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Shirley Nolte and brother, Harold Nolte; granddaughter-in-law, Aarin Nolte.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, N.D. Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, N.D. and at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial was held in the St. Vincent Cemetery, St. Vincent.
