MaryAnn Petersburg, 95, of Kennedy, Minn., passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018.
MaryAnn Lindegard was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Hallock to Henry and Frances (Jackson) Lindegard. MaryAnn graduated from Hallock High School and moved to California for two years to work at Lockheed Aircraft in the secretive “Skunk Works” making bombers during WWII. She returned home and married Robert Petersburg June 30, 1945.
Robert and MaryAnn owned and operated Petersburg Chevrolet in Kennedy until their retirement in 1986. Bob passed on Jan. 8, 2006. MaryAnn was a member of Maria Lutheran Church and the Kennedy VFW Auxiliary.
Family members include a daughter, Roberta Johnston, Hallock; two sons, Jerry of Grand Forks and Chuck of Lancaster, Minn.; grandchildren, Ryan, Brad (Billie) and Tyler of Roseau and Jeremy of Moorhead; great granddaughters, Brylie and Avlynn; a brother, Jerry (Lois) Lindegard, Hallock; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Janet and a son-in-law, Keith Johnston.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock. Interment will be in the Kennedy City Cemetery. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Galen Nordin, soloist. Honorary casket bearers were MaryAnn’s grandsons.
