Myron Swanson, 83
Myron Swanson, 83, of Hallock, Minn., passed away at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
He was born June 26, 1935, in Kennedy, Minn., the son of Stanley and Hilda (Turn) Swanson. He was baptized and confirmed at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy. Myron grew up in Kennedy and graduated from high school there in 1953.
He married Geraldine Lund at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad, Minn., on Sept. 1, 1956. Myron and Geraldine had two children, a son, Mitchell and a daughter, Jill.
He was in partnership with Verne Pearson at the Phillips 66 station, worked at Kittson Auto and at C&M Ford for over 40 years, retiring in 2018.
Myron was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served on the finance committee, drove church bus, ushered and helped with Lenten breakfasts. He was a member of the Eagles, taught gun safety and was a volunteer fireman. Myron enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, travel, selling, trading and most of all spending time at his cabin with family and friends.
Family members include his wife of 62 years, Geraldine; a daughter, Jill; grandsons, Nicholas (Jolene) Swanson and Kyle (Dana) Swanson; a daughter-in-law, Jodie Zatorski; great-grandchildren, Harper, Drew and Evan Swanson; nephews, Keith (Kim) Dziengel, Charles (Mary) Dziengel; a niece; Kari (Harold) Doubet; an aunt, Verda Swanson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Fencken, Phyllis Borg, Jack Grabow, Donald Lund, Patsy (John) Erickson, Joy Montague, Sandra (Joe) Nuccetelli, Karen (Dick) Lyngholm, John (Denise) Lund, Barry Lund and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mitchell, a sister, LaVonne and her husband, Pete Dziengel; a brother, Lee Swanson and his wife, Lu; Bradley Cosley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma and Al DeVore, Russell Lund, Harold Borg, Gloria Grabow, Anita and Gene Millam and Dennis Lund.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be next spring in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Frank Johnson, presided; Renee Wahl, organist; Emily Kuzel, soloist. Honorary pall bearers were Nicholas Swanson, Kyle Swanson, Lukas Dziengel, Garrett Dziengel, Chad Dziengel, Paul Dziengel, James Lund, Jason Lund, Austin Cosley, Tucker Cosley and Tyler Cosley.

Can’t count the number of vehicles I bought over the years from Myron, but he was always ready to help me find one. I think of him as one of those pleasant people you hope to know in life, God’s speed.
