Audrey J. Bockwitz, 85, of Hallock, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Monday, May 6, 2019.
Audrey Jayne Rice was born to Olaf and Ida Rice Aug. 29, 1933, in Crookston, Minn. Audrey moved around in her early years following her dad and mom as her dad worked odd jobs. The family finally settled in Thief River Falls, Minn., where Audrey graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1952. Shortly after graduation and her 19th birthday, she married August Rabe of Hallock, Minn.
From this marriage she had four children: Theresa (Richard) Rigsby of Yuba City, Calif.; Debra Dahlin of Ulen, Minn.; James (Kathy) Bockwitz of Fergus Falls, Minn.; and Mark Rabe of Lake City, Minn.
Audrey spent her years raising her children and volunteering for school and church functions. She occasionally worked as a home health aide and motel housekeeper. Later in life, Audrey married Virgil Bockwitz of Humboldt, Minn. From this marriage, she had two children, Virginia Bockwitz of Topeka, Kan. and Karen (Pete) Danilaitis of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
Audrey is also survived by her sister-in-law Carolyn Rice of Blooming-ton Minn., her four step-children, 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Olaf and Ida Rice; her brother, David Rice; her husbands, August Rabe and Virgil Bockwitz; and granddaughter, Sadie Didrikson.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Memorial services were held Friday, May 10, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Humboldt Methodist Church, Humboldt. Interment was held in St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gary Johnson, presiding; Galen Nordin and Erik Finney, duet. Honorary pall bearers will be family and friends.
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements.
