Billy and I grew up together. We lived about a mile apart. We played together a lot. In school, we were both good students, and competed from first grade on. We had a good visit at a school reunion in 2001, and that is the last time we were face to face. Billy was a person of excellent character, and I am very glad to have had him as a friend,
