Lois Ann Lindegard, 90

Lois Ann Lindegard, 90, of Hallock, Minn., passed away at the Kittson Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019.
Lois was born on March 27, 1929, in Hallock, to Stanley and Alma (Lund) Younggren. She attended South Hill Township school through eighth grade, at which time she moved into Hallock to live with her grandparents and attend Hallock High School, graduating in 1947. Following high school, she attended Bemidji Teachers’ College. She returned to Hallock and was employed at Northwestern State Bank.
On Dec. 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lindegard at the Northcote Presbyterian Church. After their marriage, Lois and Jerry moved to the Ole Paulson farm west of Hallock along the Red River and were actively engaged in farming for many years. They began wintering in Texas and Florida in the mid-70s.
In 1982, they moved into Hallock, where Lois enjoyed gardening, biking and coffee parties. Lois was involved in the Hallock Garden Club, sewing club, Presbyterian Women and church choir, and Back Home Days plays. She was also an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
After Jerry suffered a stroke in 2000, Lois cared for him at home for many years. She entered the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in August of 2014.
Lois loved her grandchildren immensely (unless it was Bingo night), and that love was reciprocated. Her never-ending passion for cats was passed down to several family members. She spoiled everyone with her baking, particularly lemon torte, orange rolls, meringue shells, buns and breads.
She is survived by sons Richard (Dawn), Robert (Nola), David (Julie), and Joel (Lisa), all of Hallock; 14 grandchildren, Erik, Jocelyn, Joelle, Casey, Dawn, Joni, Scott, Craig, Michael, Janna, Leanna, Kary, Nick and Anders; and 18 great-grandchildren (her pootsie-doos), Marcus, Hayley, Jennings, Ashten, Marki, Evelyn, Vivian, Myla, Alex, Isaac, Chloe, Summer, Cameron, Addison, Ceres, Camden, and twins Hudson and Isabelle; brother John Younggren, sister Carolyn Nelson, and sister-in-law Muriel Younggren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; brothers, Dean and Harold; brothers-in-law, Wayne Nelson, Duane Veldhuizen and Robert Petersburg; sisters-in-law, Lucille Younggren, Mae Younggren, Janet Veldhuizen and Mary Ann Petersburg; daughter-in-law, Andrea; and great-granddaughter, Jane Hauert.
Lois’s family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Kittson Memorial Nursing Home for the excellent care Lois received.
A celebration of her life was held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Hallock. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation was Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Rev. Marge Landwehr, presided; Sue Albrecht, soloist and Kristi Morrison, organist, provided special music. Honorary pallbearers will be Lois’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements. www.austinfuneralchapel.com.
