Marwood Hunstad, 79

Marwood “Woody” Laurence Hunstad died peacefully at home in rural Pillager, Minn., on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.
Woody was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Thief River Falls, Minn., to Jens and Agnes (Stanghelle) Hunstad. He graduated from Agricultural College in Crookston, Minn., and spent a year at the University of Minnesota.
He married his wife, Shirley Boe, June 27, 1964. Woody settled on his family farm east of Argyle, Minn., where he farmed until he started as owner of Crop Insurance Associates – Hallock.
He enjoyed his time involved in the church, acting on the boards for both Alma and Good Shepherd.
Woody was clerk of Wright Township for 39 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and playing sports with them. Woody loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. He will be dearly missed.
Woody is survived by: his wife, Shirley; children, Shawn (Anna) Hunstad of Pillager, Shannon (Amy) Hunstad of Strandquist, Minn., Stephanie Hanson of Glyndon, Minn.; grandchildren, Jordan, Cole (Cierra) and Ridge Hunstad, Ally (Michael) Monda, Shayla, Ryder and Brooke Hunstad, Jake, Jordal, and Jasmine Hanson; three great-grandchildren, Mila and Maverick Monda, and Oliver Hunstad; sister, Marlene (Eugene) Jorgenson.
Woody is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willis Jerome Hunstad.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 23,  11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church on Pine Beach Road, Brainerd.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., in Alma Free Lutheran Church, rural Argyle.
A gathering was held Thursday, Jan. 23, starting at 6:30 p.m. in DuBore Funeral Home Chapel, Warren, Minn.
Interment will be in the  Alma Lutheran Cemetery, rural Argyle.
