James (Jim) Anderson, 89
James (Jim) Marvin Anderson, 89, passed away March 29, 2026.
Jim was born in Hallock, Minn., on Aug. 8, 1935, to John Levin and Martha Anderson. He was the 5th of 7 living children — Melvin, Linden, Leona, Marlys, Ronald and Janice.
He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in April.
Though Jim began his life on the farm, he worked in the oil fields, as a deck hand and as a barber before taking his little family to California in the late 1960s where he worked for Ford Motor Company for many years. Though they lived for over 60 years in San Jose, Calif., home will always be Kittson County.
A devoted husband and family man, Jim spent hours in the garage with his son working on cars to drive or go racing, and carried on the hobby when his grandson took to the track.
Jim also enjoyed traveling with his wife and after his retirement, he and Joan went all over the world (Japan, Alaska and Europe to name a few), but their favorite destinations were those that led them back to family in Minnesota, Nevada and Arizona.
Jim will be remembered as a truly kind man. Always the first to help a neighbor or friend with any project or need. Jim’s death saddens everyone who knew him.
His death rejoins him with his parents and all of his siblings. He leaves behind the love of his life, Joan Claire (Lundeen) Anderson. They were married 65 years, taking care of one another every day. Jim and Joan have one beloved son, John Steven Anderson, and three grandchildren, Brent, Brandon and Brooke, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a small Celebration of Life in California to honor and remember a man so well loved. In the future, when Joan joins him in heaven, they have chosen to rest eternally, together, at home in Minnesota.
