Ann Bowman, 88

Ann Bowman, 88, passed away March 16, 2020, at her home in East Grand Forks, Minn.
Ann Marie Andert was born March 31, 1931, to Paul and Agnes (Aanerud) in Morris, Minn. Ann attended grade school in Alberta, Minn. During her high school years the family moved to Northcote, Minn. and she graduated from High School in Hallock, Minn., in 1949.
On Oct. 21, 1950, she married Keith (Bud) Bowman. During their early years of marriage, while Bud served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Ann lived and worked in Hallock. When Bud returned they moved to Kennedy, Minn., where he farmed with his uncle, Louis Deere.
While raising their family in Kennedy, Ann became the local go-to seamstress/ alterations person, something she continued to the present. Along with sewing, Ann enjoyed hardanger and knitting numerous sweaters, mittens and newborn caps for the hospital nursery. Other specialties included her homemade caramels and her great-grandson Adrian’s favorite dark buns, and making doll clothes for granddaughter, Rylee and grandnieces, Elsa and Katlyn. Ann was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hallock and the Kennedy VFW Auxiliary.
After moving to East Grand Forks, Ann became active in the Mendenhall Presbyterian Church. Her sewing skills were put to use again when she joined the church quilting group and made many new friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, of 50 years; son, Keith Louis (Buddy); grandson, Kevin Roane; sister, Virginia Martin; parents, Paul and Agnes, and stepmother, Doline (Murray) Andert.
Survivors include daughters, Rae Anne (Mike) Van Camp, Grand Forks, N.D.,  Patty (Doug) Roane, Grand Prairie, Texas; Kari Kay, Thief River Falls, Minn.;  sons, John (Carol), Warren, Minn. and Rob (Jamie), Grand Forks;  eight grandchildren, Darcey Lunski, Erin Crawford, Keith Roane, Gunnar and TJ Bowman, Jordan, Sam and Rylee Bowman; and five great-grandchildren, Adrian Stallworth, Cailey Van Camp, Markus Lunski, Annalee and Levi Roane.
Private services for family and relatives were held Monday, March 23, 2020, at Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock. Burial will take place at a later date in Hallock. Rev. Galen Nordin presided. Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Tom Pearson, Scott Pearson, Larry Diamond, David Anderson, Rich Anderson, Mike Anderson, Kent Hedstrom, Paul Hedstrom and Mark Hedstrom.
