William David Thomson 80
William David Thomson, born Sept. 16, 1940, to Mabel Thomson and David Thomson, passed away on Nov. 6, 2020, at Southwest Hospital in Vancouver, Wash.
Billy Thomson attended and graduated from Lancaster schools, and grew up on a sheep farm near Hallock.
On Aug. 8, 1964, he married Judith Thomson from Mountain, N.D., at the Aford Church in North Dakota. Shortly thereafter, Bill and Judy moved to Alaska to begin their adventure educating Native Alaskans and raising three daughters, Mary, Cari and Nicole.
William was a doting husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed outside activities such as hunting and gardening, and loved watching his grandkids participate in sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and David Thomson. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Israelson; his wife, Judith; and his daughters, Mary, Cari and Nicole; as well as six grandchildren.
Due to concern over the spread of Covid-19 a small, private ceremony took place at the Steele Chapel in Longview on Nov. 10, 2020.
I remember the day that Bill was born. His sister (Sharon) was my best friend and we grew up together. Also Bill’s mother, Mabel, and my dad, Leonard Hanson were first cousins. I only knew Bill as a young boy and remember him as a fine young man. My condolences and sympathy to his family.
