John Edward Money, 66
John Edward Money was born on Dec. 28, 1954, in Fargo, N.D., to John F. and Betty Money and passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at his home in Hallock, Minn.
He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minn., and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock.
John grew up in Hallock and graduated from Hallock High School in 1973. He enjoyed playing football and hockey. He went on to attend college at the University of Minnesota Crookston and played on the 1973 football team that finished first in the state and fourth in the nation. John graduated in 1975 from UMC with an associate’s degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management.
He moved to California and managed a “Red Barn” restaurant. He then moved to Matunuck, R.I., and was a chef at several restaurants and supper clubs for over 30 years. In 2010, he returned to Hallock, working in the kitchen at local restaurants.
John will be remembered for his outgoing personality and ability to befriend just about anyone. He always had a positive outlook on life. Throughout his travels and through his profession he made many friends.
He is survived by: his father, John F. Money, Hallock; siblings, Kathy (John) Sproat, St. Paul, Minn., David (Ann) Money, Houston, Texas, Marty (Jim) Durso, Grand Forks, N.D., Dale Money, Badger, Minn., and Dan (Louise) Money, Hallock; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.
John is preceded in death by: his mother, Betty Money; and a brother, Chris Money.
Due to the current pandemic, no services will be held at this time. A graveside service will be planned for summer 2021. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock.
I am very saddened to hear about John’s passing I worked with him at the Ocean Mist and he was a great guy! Always smiling and telling a joke or two! My condolences to the family.
