Amie Jean Dexter, 88
Amie Jean Dexter died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at age 88. She led a “Gal Friday” life as an indispensable organizer and communicator who flawlessly executed, attended, and enlightened important life events for all she touched.
Amie will be remembered as a positive and passionate cheerleader for others — community, companions, church, children, and Carson Wentz (!)..hence, she cast a wide net of friends and accolades — A memorable grade school teacher in her childhood home of Lancaster Minn.; Insurance Woman of the Year with a 31-year insurance career; President of Friends of the Opera with national partners in excellence award highlighting her ability to bring enlightenment, opera stars and funds to the beautiful art of F-M Opera; Co-Chair of annual Olivet-Nativity Christmas dinner serving over 400 people; A force for scholarships for women as President of PEO Sisters; Loyal Dragon who supported scholarships after graduating in elementary ed from MSUM (Teacher’s College); Meticulous manager of Chez Susanne, a former bed and breakfast in Fargo.
We will miss her scrumptious pies and elaborate gingerbread houses, crossword puzzle compositions, knitting of numerous afghans, and undying enthusiasm to laugh, love, dance and participate in life.
Funeral services will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, 1330 S. University Dr., Fargo, at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15 with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be observed. The service will also be livestreamed at www.hansonrunsvold.com. In lieu of flowers Amie requested memorials go to F-M Opera, Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo, or Sion Lutheran Church of Lancaster.
