Virginia D. Coffield, 80

Virginia D. Coffield, 80, of Lancaster, Minn., passed away at her home on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Virginia Dale Hunter was born March 4, 1942, to Henry Lewis and Viva (Lund) Hunter in Hallock, Minn. She lived her first eight years on the Hunter farm near Orleans, Minn., before moving with her family to Lancaster in 1950. She graduated from Lancaster High School and Bemidji State University.
She married Dennis (Pat) Coffield on Aug. 14, 1965 in Lancaster. Together they had many adventures while they taught school in various locations throughout Minnesota, Alaska and northern Manitoba, several of them in remote locations. Virginia loved being a teacher and was very proud of the job she did. They retired to live the remainder of her life in Lancaster.
Virginia loved being a grandma and spent as much time as she could with her grandkids. She enjoyed traveling, reading, baking fresh buns and bread, baking pies, doing crossword puzzles and was usually game for an adventure, or just a cup of coffee and a good visit.
Virginia is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Pat; sons, Mike (Carrie) Coffield, Tom (Tracy) Coffield; daughter, Denise (Shane) Johnson; brothers, Kendall (Kathy) Hunter, and Daniel Hunter; sister-in-law, Wendy Hunter; 10 grandchildren, Tyler and Sara Coffield, Brett, Derek (Dannali) and Haley (Luke Himmelspach) Coffield, Wyatt, Hannah (Marek Cobb), Amanda, Cole and Kellen Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Nora, Isaiah and Theo Cobb.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lewis and Viva; and brother Jim Hunter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hallock Public Library or the Lancaster COLEG Fund.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Lancaster Covenant Church. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
