Kirby Dembiczak, 50

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kirby Allen Dembiczak, 50, on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.
Kirby was a devoted father and husband with an ever role as a provider who faced his life’s challenges with strong determination. His journey was not without complexities, but he always strived to care for his family in the best ways he knew.
Kirby was the second of three children born on Sept. 2, 1974, to Rudy and Tania Dembiczak in Karlstad, Minn. He was raised in Halma, Minn., and attended Tri-County Secondary in Karlstad, where he developed his love for football and weightlifting. He later played football for and attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, Minn., for mechanics.
On May 9, 1998, he married Kari Jo Hanson in Newfolden, Minn. Together, they ventured to make a life of their own where they raised three children in his hometown of Halma. He sought work in numerous trades that reflected his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his family’s financial well-being. Kirby believed in the value of his role as a provider and ensured that his family always had what they needed to succeed.
Kirby found his enjoyment in the great outdoors, groundskeeping and laborious tasks; often finding happiness and peace in activities like hunting, yard work, home repairs and engine work. Kirby could be considered a jack of all trades when it came to renovating his family’s home. Anything from flooring, replacing windows, ductwork, shingling, etc. – he did it all! These moments reflect his appreciation for life’s simple and enduring pleasures in family and home accomplishments. When he wasn’t working on a home project, he enjoyed watching football, and classic rock-and-roll (especially Metallica) and even had a few years’ stint in lawnmower racing.
While Kirby could be set in his traditional ways, those who knew him understood his convictions came from a place of care and concern for his loved ones, even if he struggled to show his offering of tenderness with a more delicate touch.
Kirby will be remembered as a man of steadfast commitment and resolve, and as someone who, despite any challenges, worked tirelessly to provide for the family he loved.
May he rest in peace, embraced by the serenity and calm he so sought.
Kirby is survived by: his wife, Kari; one son, Walker Dembiczak of Warren, Minn.; two daughters, Mykael (Trey Kjono) Dembiczak of Thief River Falls, and Summer Dembiczak of Halma; one brother, Cory Dembiczak of Warroad, Minn.; one sister, Dawn (Dan) Stull of Hallock, Minn.; alongside many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
