Mary J. Zarins, 92, Minnetonka, Minn., died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.
Mary was born on March 22, 1933, in Hallock, Minn. to Ernest and Amy Gustafson. She grew up on the farm in Lancaster, Minn., with her eight brothers and sisters.
She worked for Land O’Lakes and Control Data, but her favorite job was being a Nanny. Oh, how she loved the little kids!
Mary enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Going out for lunch or dinner – her favorite restaurant being Jimmy’s in Minnetonka and of course, The Olive Garden and Culver’s. She was always up for a conversation with friends and family as well as meeting new people. Mary was a special lady who touched the hearts of so many.
Mary is survived by: brothers, William and Richard; and a sister, Virginia Crounse; as well as many nieces and nephews and honorary granddaughter, Abby.
She was preceded in death by husband, Helmars; daughter, Lisa; brothers, Ray, Jack, Harold; and sister, Betty Steen.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home – Hopkins Chapel, Hopkins, Minn.
