TNT meeting explained through AI presentation

Kittson Central Board members learned more about how AI (artificial intelligence) can positively assist teachers, students and administration during the regular meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Tina Turn, a high school English teacher, talked about a recent class she took on AI and its benefits in the classroom.
“It opened up the door for more conversations with kids and it’s very exciting,” Turn said.
Turn had been putting off learning more about AI’s integration in the classroom and admitted to having negative feelings about it. She thought kids would lose their critical thinking skills and become over-reliant on technology to write essays and papers, or create presentations. She likened this line of thinking with what teachers thought when calculators were introduced – people thought kids would never do math again.
“The fact is, it’s not going away,” Turn said. “Every time I click on a website, there’s a new banner on the top that asks me if I want to do something with AI.”
