CPR saved Danny Blomquist’s life

Danny Blomquist truly believes he shouldn’t be here.
Last fall, at a funeral reception for a family friend, Danny collapsed and stopped breathing for 30 minutes. Constant chest compressions and knowledge from those at the gathering saved his life.
The Hallock native now lives in Moorhead, but comes back to Hallock often. He and his wife, Angie, returned for Mary Forfang’s funeral at the end of September. Just the day before, Danny had his first round of chemotherapy for metastatic cancer.
“I think what caused all this was the fact that my system was down from the chemo,” Danny said recently.
Professionals determined he suffered an arrhythmia, which is an abnormal heart rhythm. This caused an electrical issue within his heart.
“I was talking with Julie Ristad, she was in a wheelchair, so I kind of knelt down so I could be more face-to-face,” Danny said. “But I kept falling. Ken Peterson was sitting next to me, I bumped him and he helped break my fall. I don’t remember anything. Everything is a blank.”
