Deloris Peterson, 84

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deloris Elmae (Norman) Peterson. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and treasured friend, who departed this life peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Heather’s House in Fargo, N.D.
Deloris was born on Oct. 3, 1941 in Hallock, Minn., to the late Arthur and Ethel Norman.
Deloris’s life was a tapestry of love, devotion and steadfast faith. A graduate of Hallock High School in 1959, she built a rich and varied career as a professional seamstress, school assistant and insurance secretary. Her work was not only a testament to her skill and dedication, but also a reflection of her nurturing spirit and willingness to serve others.
On Oct. 24, 1959, Deloris married the love of her life, Richard. Their marriage spanned an incredible 66 years, a testament to their unwavering commitment and deep affection for one another. Together, they raised five daughters, creating a family filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories. Deloris was blessed with 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
A woman of deep faith, Deloris was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and a dedicated participant in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran in America (WELCA). Her community was enriched by involvement in the Hobby Club, Homemaker’s, and her spirited participation in the Whist Club. Deloris’s presence was a beacon of warmth and kindness, her laughter was contagious and her dimples broadened with her smile.
Deloris possessed a talent for knitting and sewing, crafting beautiful baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and sewing elegant baptism gowns, leaving behind tangible pieces of her love. She made all the girls’ dresses (with perfection) for Easter and Christmas, using the same pattern but in different colors. Deloris loved to bake and passed on her skills to her daughters and granddaughters. She was especially known for her butterhorns, rye bread and caramel rolls.
She loved playing Canasta with her daughters, sisters, nieces and grandchildren. She and Richard shared many wonderful trips, especially to Hawai’i, and she embarked on two Caribbean cruises with three of her daughters in 2023 and 2024. Deloris was known for her spirited nature, which shone brightly as she navigated her scooter around the cruise ships with playful grace.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Richard; their beloved daughters, Patty (Dan) Beyer, Joni Markeson, Brenda (Denis) Raue, Sue (Rod) Anderson, and Julie (Brian) Pastir; and her sister, Bonnie Norman. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Kelli (Josh) Theis, Halie (Dominick) Kraft, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Beyer, Stephani (Scott) McDaniel, Justin Anderson, Kristin (Ben) Pawlowski, Joseph (Paige) Pastir, Jared Markeson, Michelle Raue, and Zachary (fiancé Hannah) Pastir; her six great-grandchildren, Jade and Jackson Kraft, Estelle, Blake and Genevieve McDaniel, and Evra Pastir; and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethel; her sister, Shirley Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Fridberg and Barbara Wiener.
A celebration of Deloris’s life was held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with visitation at 1 p.m. and funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance, honoring a life well-lived and the legacy of love that Deloris leaves behind.
Deloris’s gentle spirit, infectious laughter and boundless love will be profoundly missed but forever remembered. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the solace that she is at peace with her savior Jesus Christ and reunited in Heaven with her loved ones who have gone before her. Rest in peace, dear Deloris. Your journey has been a beautiful one, and your legacy of love will continue to inspire us all.
Memorial donations in Deloris’s memory should be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Hallock’s music department. Memorials can be mailed to Grace Lutheran Church, PO Box 489, Hallock, MN 56728.
