Hallock TNT meeting brief with one resident attending

One person attended Hallock City Council’s annual Truth in Taxation meeting, a first in many years who has a question. Mayor Dave Treumer recognized Roger Schwenzfeier, asking if that’s why he was at the meeting.
“Well I wanted an explanation because it’s a pretty big increase,” Schwenzfeier said, referring to his Truth in Taxation statement he received. “It’s about a 33% increase in taxes.”
Treumer said city taxes should only be an 11% increase, which he noted is on the back of the statement everyone in the city received. Schwenzfeier said he saw that, but his statement said his proposed taxes increased from $1,240 to $1,640. He shared his statement with Treumer and the council, who asked whether the value of the home had increased.
