Profits from Liquor Store continue to help the city

The Lancaster Liquor Store continues to be one of the city’s biggest assets, as evidenced by year-end reporting for 2025. During the city council’s regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11, the council heard from City Clerk/Treasurer Janet Johnson that the Liquor Store’s profits increased by $25,400 over 2024.
“Profits are still going up, and we’re not going down, and we’re not staying the same,” said Liquor Store Manager Shannon Bowlin.
In comparing income statements from January 2025 to January 2026, the Liquor Store brought in about $1,000 more than the previous year. The net profit for January 2026 was $10,949.61.
This is good news as the Liquor Store has been working toward getting new flooring. Bowlin presented two estimates for consideration – Lancaster Lumber at $12,364.51 and Schulz Carpeting, Crookston, at $14,503.77.
These estimates call to remove two layers of old linoleum, baseboards and door jams in order to lay new flooring. The baseboards and door jams would be reinstalled. Both estimates are warrantied. The costs include material removal and disposal, leveling the floor, everything.
