Helen K. Hanson, 81

Helen K. Hanson, Thief River Falls, Minn., age 81, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Elim Care and Rehab, Princeton, Minn.
Helen K. Hanson, the daughter of the late William and Annie (Muir) Hanson was born February 22, 1935 at Hazelton Township of Kittson County, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Along with her family, as a young child she moved to Grygla, Minn., where she attended school and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1952.
Helen furthered her education at Carl C. Miller School of Practical Nursing in St. Paul, Minn., graduating in 1955.
After graduation, she worked in newborn nursery in Minneapolis, until moving to Thief River Falls. For over 40 years Helen worked as a LPN on 2nd CNC at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
After retiring from nursing in 1999, Helen spent a lot of time with sister, Mary Jane, until her passing. Helen resided at Valley Home starting in 2012 and in October of that year moved to Elim Homes, Princeton.
Helen loved crocheting, sewing, baking, crossword puzzles, playing cards, traveling, plants and bingo. She was affectionately known as Grandma Froggy – due to her huge frog collection and love of frogs. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Joanette (Mitch) Muzzy, Elk River, Minn.; grandchildren, Samantha (Tom) Cassady, Fargo, N.D.; Michael Muzzy, Minneapolis, Minn.; Caitlin Muzzy and Mark Muzzy, both of Elk River; nieces and nephews, Debra (Lynn) Warnke, Emerado, N.D.; Bruce (Connie) Goldstrand, Lake Bronson, Minn.; Teresa (Glenn) Anderson, Lancaster, Minn., and Michael Goldstrand, Lake Bronson; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great great-nieces and great great-nephews; as well as many cousins, relatives, and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Gene Goldstrand; nephews, Daniel and Jesse Goldstrand; and great-nephew, Tyson Warnke.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson, with Lay Pastor Kathy Levenhagen officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Lake Bronson.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church in Lake Bronson.
