Wilma L. Hanson, 90

Wilma L. Hanson, 90, Hallock, Minn., died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Kittson Memorial Nursing Home, Hallock.
Wilma Lorraine was born October 24, 1925 in Rochelle, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Isabelle (Landsen) Klewin.
She was raised and educated in Rochelle. Upon graduation from high school, she enrolled in a  three year school of Nursing,  Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, Ill.
After graduation from the Swedish-American School of Nursing, she was a camp nurse at a YMCA?boys Camp in Boulder Junction, Wis. for the summer months. Her nursing profession afforded her many opportunities for future employment as a nurse in the states of Illinois, Arizona, Colorado and Minnesota.
In Minnesota, she met her husband, Harry who was attending Dental School.
Upon his graduation, he had a two year military commitment with the Army stationed in Korea.
Receiving orders to serve in Korea, Harry and Wilma were married in San Antonio, Tex., and Harry left for Korea. Wilma joined him in Tokyo, Japan after he served in Korea. Brian was born in Tokyo, Japan.
Returning to Minnesota they settled in Hallock, where Harry set up his dental practice.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and very active in WELCA, was a Pioneer Girls teacher and volunteered at the church where needed.
Left to mourn her passing are sons, Brian (Jennifer) Hanson, Hallock; Michael (Lucinda) Hanson, Euless, Tex.; John, Hallock; daughters, Gretchen (Brad) Bjerken, Felton, Minn., and Kayla, Hallock; grandchild-ren, Megan and Morgan Hanson, Spencer Kushinski; Hannah Hanson; and Bryce Bjerken, and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Isabelle; husband, Harry; son, Timothy; brothers, John and her twin, Willard; and sister, Carolyn.
A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock, with Pastor Frank Johnson, presiding. Renee Wahl, organist, with special music from Seed of Faith and Ron Fossell.
Family service will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 with prayer service at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Kent, Kelly, Kerry and Kirk Costin, Nancy Severson, Kay Rosengren, Janice Glidden, Maxine Johnson, Cindy Sobolik and Lana Fossell.
In lieu of flowers, donations perferred to DAC, Hallock Public Library, Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church.
Austin Funeral Home, Hallock, will be in charge of the arrangements.
