Joyce Faye (Vrem) Zimmerman, 92

Joyce Faye (Vrem) Zimmerman, 92, of Lancaster, Minn., died at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
She was born in Rolette, N.D., Dec. 3, 1929, the daughter of James Earl and Alice (Sing) Vrem. She grew up in Rolette and graduated from high school in 1948. Joyce was united in marriage Sept. 19, 1949, to Darrel Zimmerman at Valle Lutheran Church in Rolette. The couple moved to Lancaster in 1961 where Darrel worked for the Soo Line Railroad and Joyce worked at Northwestern State Bank, retiring from the bank in 1994. Joyce was a member of Sion Lutheran Church, Sion Quilters and WELCA. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, Harlow, N.D.; Lancaster Legion Auxiliary; Lancaster Lions; North Star Square Dance Club and a board member for Lancaster Homes.
Family survivors include: two daughters, Tamara and Robert Olson, Exeland, Wis., and Kathy and Michael Wollin, Hallock, Minn.; seven grandchildren, John and Sara Olson, Mike and Carrie Olson, Konrad and Tanya Sjoblom, Steve and Jodie Olson, Kelly and Drew Mortenson, Dan and Danielle Olson, Katy and Justin Johnson; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Vrem, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; a brother, Ronald Hanson, Salem, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Eunice Vrem, Eagle River, Alaska, and Betty Sayer, Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Michael (Marilyn) Zimmerman, Sequim, Wash.; several nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Darrel; parents, Earl and Alice; a sister, Betty; and five brothers, Verl, Skippy (Stanley), Blyss, Jimmy and Paul.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Andy Graves, presiding; Dianne Rice, organist. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, John Olson, Mike Olson, Konrad Sjoblom, Steve Olson, Kelly Sjoblom, Danny Olson (honorary casket bearer) currently serving in Saudi Arabia, and Katy Johnson.
