Joni Irene Cederholm Turner, 62
Joni Irene Cederholm Turner, 62, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 2, 2022, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, N.D., surrounded by her husband and sisters.
She was born Jan. 27, 1960, in the Drayton, N.D., hospital to Charles and Kaye (Walters) Cederholm. She grew up in Hallock, Minn., and graduated from Hallock High School in May of 1978. Joni attended Moorhead State Teachers College, graduating in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in special education. Her teaching career took her to White Earth and Howard Lake, Minn., eventually taking a teaching position at Red Lake, Minn., in the fall of 1987. Joni taught in the Red Lake Elementary School until her retirement in 2017. Joni loved teaching and each student held a special place in her heart.
Joni was united in marriage to Richard Turner on July 24, 2004, in Fargo. The couple made their home in Bemidji, Minn. After Joni retired, she volunteered at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, rocking and comforting premature babies. She also worked at Wick-N-Scents in Bemidji.
She is survived by: her husband, Rick, Bemidji; sisters, Sue, Fargo, and Deb, Lake Bronson, Minn.; her cat, Otis; goddaughter, Jordan Hegna; aunts, an uncle and several cousins.
Joni was preceded in death by: her parents; grandparents; aunts; uncles, and a cousin.
Joni’s wishes were to have a graveside service for family at Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 1 p.m. Rev. Marge Landwehr, officiating.
