KCC volleyball team sweeps Gators in their own swamp
By Coach Tina Turn
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Bearcats traveled to the Swamp in Greenbush to face Northern Lights Conference rival BGMR. With Section seeding on the line next week, both teams entered the match eager to make a statement.
KCC came out blazing in the opening set, firing on all cylinders from the first serve. Senior middle hitter Kaydence White led the charge with double-digit kills in a dominant 25-9 win. Junior Brynn Hennen capped the set with a remarkable 10-point serving run, using smart, aggressive serves that kept the Gators out of system. The Bearcats committed just 2 errors in the entire set—a season best.
Set two proved much closer as KCC battled through 15 errors. The Gators capitalized on the miscues to keep things tight, but the Bearcats held strong down the stretch. After a late BGMR timeout at 23-24, White stepped to the service line and sealed the win with an ace, giving KCC a 25-23 victory and a commanding 2-0 lead.
That second-set win gave the Bearcats momentum they never relinquished. In set three, KCC once again served tough and attacked aggressively. Four players tallied ace serves, and the offense hit double-digit kills—White adding 8 more—to finish the night with a 25-19 win and a clean sweep.
The victory improves the Bearcats’ record to 17-9. The team can take pride in their complete performance—strong serving, sharp passing and consistent offensive execution. Passing above goal helped drive their offensive rhythm, and their focus and intensity never wavered. With only two regular-season matches remaining, KCC aims to carry this momentum into the final stretch and the upcoming playoffs.
