Hallock street project wraps up for the winter

By Anna Jauhola
The streets of Hallock are quiet now. A few days before the extended deadline of Nov. 15, Knife River Materials finished the first lift of pavement on sections of reconstructed street, and nearly in conjunction with that, the concrete crews completed the curb and gutter.
“Overall, it was a condensed project – squished into a shorter period of time than we initially thought,” said Zach Thoma, project engineer for Moore Engineering. “For the most part, everything’s gone pretty well. They’ve gotten back on track and everything is going as it should.”
From the beginning, the project prompted a lot of questions from not only the city council but especially the public. It was often noted the residents along Douglas Avenue North went the longest without regular access to their homes.
