KC Board discusses possible expanded hockey co-op

The Kittson Central School Board addressed a potential hockey co-op expansion in the region and staffing fluctuation during its February meeting.
Principal Jami Carr said there is plenty of support for the expanded co-op, which would include Stephen-Argyle. Still, she said to keep in mind there are quite a few complexities that come with expansion, such as formally dissolving the current co-op and drafting a new resolution to have a new co-op involving several schools.
“It’s a process. There are several steps involved with talking to our section and conference,” said Carr.
Determining billing and other concerns, like changing ice time, all must be considered. She hopes to clear out a few financial and logistical details by school’s year-end on July 1.
“It’s in the works, but it will take some time,” said Carr.
She also assuaged concerns that the team’s local roots wouldn’t be lost in a list of names and said the team’s branding and identity would remain the same.
“We’re not going the route where you end up with five names listed for the team. It would still be teams playing under Kittson County Central Bearcats,” Carr said.
