Museum receives full lighting grant from Minnesota Historical Society

In early December, the Kittson County Historical Society received an amazing early Christmas gift. The Minnesota Historical Society sent notice that KCHS received the full amount requested to update the museum’s exhibiting lighting.
“I am pleased to let you know that the Minnesota Historical Society has awarded a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage grant in the amount of $99,838 to the Kittson County Historical Society for the lighting installation and occupancy sensors,” read an email from Avi Viswanathan, executive vice president of mission delivery for the state historical society.
On Thursday, Feb. 19, the Minnesota Historical Society officially announced the recipients of the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Large Grants. The Kittson County Historical Society was among 38 others to receive a grant, and the Minnesota Historical Society awarded $4.6 million in grant dollars for historical organizations and projects across the state.
“I feel like this is going to put us into the 21st Century with motion sensor lights and energy efficient, museum-quality lighting,” said Museum Director Cindy Adams.
