BronsonFest bosts big schedule for annual event

“BronsonFest,” Lake Bronson’s annual community celebration, kicks off on Thursday, July 30 with BINGO, hosted by the Lake Bronson Lions Club, at the Village Square at 6 p.m. Come and support this important community organization!
On Friday, July 31, it will be all about family fun, great food and good music. How long has it been since you played a game of kickball? Bring your family and friends to the Lake Bronson City Park at 5 p.m. for your chance to play the game again. Entry fees are $5 per person or $25 per family. This is sure to be a fun experience for all ages!
Finding good food in Lake Bronson on Friday evening will be no problem. The Bronson Sub Shack will be open until 7 p.m., the Lancaster Junior Class will be serving Oofda Tacos at the Village Square from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and Maggie’s Food Wagon will be set up at the Kittson County Museum beginning at 4 p.m., and will remain open during the museum’s outdoor concert – “Woodstack”. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. behind the museum, near the depot. It is time for some peace and love, so come and step back in time to the 1960s and enjoy the music that was played at the original “Woodstock” concert in 1969. Darren Quam & Friends are a group of talented musicians from central Minnesota, who were recently showcased on PBS’s “Prairie Musicians.” This group performs “Woodstack” at the Civil War Museum in Battle Lake, Minn., as an annual fundraiser. The concert at the museum is free thanks “in part to a grant provided by the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature from its general fund.” There are additional costs beyond what the grant covers so donations will be appreciated at the event. There will also be a vintage costume contest so get out your “groovy” clothes, bring your lawn chairs and come to enjoy an evening of peace, love & music. Everyone is welcome!
Saturday, Aug. 1 starts out with a free pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Lake Bronson Elevator at the Village Square from 8 – 9:30 a.m. A craft/flea market will start around the same time. Vendors are welcome to come and set up on the vacant lot between the Bronson Market and the Community Center. At 10 a.m., a puzzle competition begins at the Village Square. There is a 10-team limit with 4 people per team.
Things really get going at noon. The Lake Bronson Fire Department will be serving burgers, hot dogs, brats & corn cobs at the fire hall from 12 to 3 p.m. Besides the Fire Departments meal, there will be a couple of food trucks along with Bronson Market’s Sub Shack throughout the day and into the evening. The cornhole tournament begins at noon in front of the American Legion. The Kids’ Festival also begins at noon and continues until 4 p.m. With the purchase of a $10 bracelet, kids can enjoy bouncy houses, games, facepainting and cotton candy! Plus, there’s even more fun for the kids! The Lake Bronson Fire Department will be sponsoring a variety of water activities and games in the lot north of the community center from 1 to 4 p.m. This should be a lot of fun, especially if it’s hot! Be prepared to get wet! Adults can join in the fun, too. There will be areas available to change clothes. At 2 p.m., the Ping Pong Ball drop will happen in front of the Village Square. Kids can get a ball and return it for a prize.
The Zion Lutheran Church’s annual pie social will be at the Community Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Also, beginning at 1 p.m., the Last Chance Trading Post will be offering rides on their wagon pulled by their beautiful Clydesdale horses. Pick-up will be at the museum’s picnic shelter. The Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. It’s a great place to learn some history and cool off if needed. There’s a lot to see, too!
At 4 p.m., there will be drawings for kids bikes so be sure to sign up! Following the drawing, from 4 to 6 p.m., Trivia & Music BINGO with Jacob Maier will be held at the Village Square. Jacob does a great job at making this a fun event and it’s free to play!
The parade begins at 6 p.m. There is no pre-registration required. Just line up behind the Lake Bronson Fire Truck on the road by the water plant. Prior to the parade, someone will come and get your information and bring it to the announcer. Businesses, organizations and families are encouraged to participate in the parade. Come and help make it a great parade!
The final event on Saturday is the Street Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. The music will be provided by Darren Quam & Friends. They will be playing different music from what they played at the museum’s “Woodstack” the night before. They play covers from the 1960s & 1970s, Blues and original music. There is no cover charge and people of all ages are welcome to come dance and have some fun!
“BronsonFest” concludes on Sunday, Aug. 2 with an 11 a.m. Community Church Service at the Village Square with a potluck lunch to follow.
