Two races contested in upcoming county election

By Enterprise Staff
There are two contested races in upcoming elections in Kittson County.
For County Commissioner in District 3, which is the city of Hallock, four people filed for election.
Loren Younggren is the incumbent. He is challenged by Michael Docken, Naomi Larson and Jennifer Peterson. Younggren has held this seat since 2018. Docken is Hallock’s chief of police while both Larson and Peterson currently serve as Hallock city councilors.
In Commissioner District 5, Casey Faken and Justin Peterson have filed for the position. They are both newcomers. Current Commissioner Ryan Swenson did not file for re-election. Most recently, after the deadline to file, Jon Vold filed a write-in campaign for this district as well.
The other four races are uncontested.
Incumbent Matt Vig filed for re-election as county sheriff.
George Hanson filed for election as county attorney. The current county attorney is Robert Albrecht.
Andrew Muir filed for Soil and Water Supervisor in District 3, while Ross Anderson filed for the District 4 position.
