Ruth Hansen, 83

Ruth Hansen, 83, Madison, Minn. passed away January 30, 2016.
Ruth Katherine Violet Axelson Hansen was born on March 22, 1932, in Hallock, Minn., the daughter of Olaf and Rena (Johnson) Axelson.
She was baptized at Tabitha Lutheran Church in rural Hallock on May of 1932 and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock in October of 1946. She graduated from Hallock High School with the class of 1950, attended Bemidji State College and taught school in Fertile, Appleton and Bellingham, where she taught elementary school for 12 years.
Ruth was united in marriage to Alan Hansen on June 9, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton and they were blessed with two daughters, Connie and Karen and four grandchildren, Jeremy and Evan Petrich, and Annika and Anja Utt.
Ruth was a member of Louisburg Lutheran Church, Madison, and was active as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher, served on the church council, was a member of WELCA serving in various offices, member of circle and was a faithful member of the choir.
Ruth dearly loved her family and was especially happy when they were all together for special occasions. She loved cooking and baking for the grandchildren and was known to send cookies in the mail for holidays. She loved the Lord and enjoyed serving Him in church activities, her Thursday morning Bible Study and Christian Women’s Club. Ruth took great pride in her flower gardens and enjoyed watching the birds in her yard.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Alan, daughters and sons-in law Connie and Scott Petrich, Springfield, Mo.; Karen and Mike Utt, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; sisters Lucille Dickelman, Woburn, Mass., and Evangeline Gunderson, Carver, Minn.; and sister-in-law Lorie Axelson, Hallock, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Bernice Lee, Martha Walker; and brothers, James Axelson and David Axelson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Louisburg Lutheran Church with Vicar Elan Hacker officiating. Interment was at Louisburg Lutheran Cemetery.
Zahrbrock Funeral Home, Madison, was in charge of the arrangements.
