Violet Elnora Charon, 89

Violet Elnora Charon, 89, Bemidji, Minn. died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at her home.
Violet was born Jan. 15, 1927 on the farm near Dahlen, N.D., the daughter of Henry and Joran (Steinley) Northagen. She was raised and educated there, graduating from Dahlen High School.
Violet married Harlan Tilford Charon on Oct. 27, 1946 at Park River, N.D. They lived in Devils Lake, N.D. where she worked at J. C Penney for 10 years. They then lived in Rugby and Langdon, N.D. before settling in Hallock, Minn. for a number of years. She worked at the Hallock Dry Cleaners. They moved to Bemidji in 2006 and lived most recently at Windsong apartments.
Violet was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She loved square dancing with her husband but most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother to her family. She was a great cook. She and Harlan spent 18 years of their retirement wintering in Mesa, Ariz.
She is survived by her husband Harlan Charon, Bemidji, son Terry (Corrine) Charon, Cass Lake, Minn.; daughter Lynda (Jim) Brown, Bozeman, Mont.; five grandchildren Ryan (Tara), Carly (Donnie), Elliot (Corey), Travis (Deb), and Zachary, nine great grandchildren Owen, Ava, Lucy, Piper, Violet, Grayson, Parker, Abby, and Vera, and three brothers, Gilman (Kathy), James (Doris), and Lloyd Northhagen.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, brother Olaf and sister Avis.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Bemidji, Minn. with Rev. Mark Kindem officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home, Bemidji.
