Robert H. Moore, 86

Robert H. Moore, 86, of Devils Lake, N.D., died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Eventide Devils Lake Care Center.
Robert H. Moore was born to Hal and Selma (Anderson) Moore on May 25, 1934, in Hallock, Minn. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Hallock High School in 1952. Bob received a bachelor of science degree in art education in 1956 from the University of North Dakota. In the fall of 1956, he began a distinguished career with Devils Lake Public Schools. Bob went on to receive a master’s degree in art education in 1968 and an art therapy degree in 1978 from UND.
Teaching art was Bob’s love and dedication for over 55 years. Known as “Mr. Moore” to generations of Devils Lake Public School students, he also taught at the Park Board Summer Arts and Crafts program and visual arts program, the International Music Camp visual arts program, Lake Region State College and Cankdeska Cikana Community College, the Heartland Care Center, Good Samaritan Center and Odd Fellows Home and the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center. He also worked with the Lake Region Corporation and the Community Options Program in Devils Lake. His last painting, recently completed in 2020, hung on the wall above his bed.
Bob received over 40 titles, awards and honors throughout his career. His most cherished was “United States Teacher of the Year” in 1965. Bob also loved travel and led a European cultural tour through the International Music Camp.
He is survived by his sister, Grace Baker, Hutchinson, Minn.; nieces, Betty Younggren, Hallock, Lynette Wehrend, Bent Mountian, Va., and Donette Carlson, Broken Bow, Okla., and nephews, William H. Moore, Hallock and Chester Carlson, Flower Mound, Texas, and great-nephews and great-nieces and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, William M. and June Moore, sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Stanley Carlson, and nephew, James Baker.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at 1 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Friends may call at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock, in the spring of 2021.
