Owen Swenson, 67

Owen Swenson, 67, of Lancaster, Minn., passed away peacefully at his home on May 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Owen was born to Oscar and Margaret (Murray) Swenson on Jan. 1, 1955, in Hallock, Minn. Oscar and Margaret raised their family in Lancaster and while his siblings tended to be more shy, Owen was always outgoing and wanting to visit. Owen graduated from Lancaster High School in 1974. Along with his friends Bryce and Gary, he was known throughout high school for joking around and enjoying life.
Owen married Judy Ingeman on Oct. 12, 1974, in Lancaster where they continued to live and raise three sons, Scott, Ryan and Chris. Raising these three meant life was never dull or boring.
Owen always had a passion for farming. He farmed for a while after he and Judy were first married and then later in life took pride in watching his sons farm and pursuing careers in agriculture.
Owen and Judy enjoyed traveling, especially out west when they would visit family in Montana and Washington as well as the Medora Musical. Owen also enjoyed hunting, driving around in the country outside of Lancaster, and visiting with their neighbor KC. Even if he wouldn’t admit it, Owen was a lifelong dog lover and dogs gravitated to him too.
One of the greatest joys of Owen’s life was watching his grandchildren grow up. He would often sit with a smirk on his face listening to them talk and play. Although Owen was a little gruff on the exterior, he was sensitive and loving toward his family and he will be forever missed.
Owen is survived by: his wife Judy; sons, Scott (Heidi), Ryan (Amey), and Chris (Andrea) all of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Garet (Taylor), Gabby (Billy), Izzy, Everleigh, Cooper, Holden, Case and Cash; one great-grandchild Harlee; three siblings, Randy (Bev) Swenson of Lancaster, Cheryl (John) Muir of Hallock, and Leland (Shirley) Swenson of Lancaster;as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Nichole; and his parents, Margaret and Oscar.
There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Lancaster Community Center.
