Hallock street project officially completed
By Anna Jauhola
The Hallock Street Project is officially complete. During the regular Hallock City Council meeting on Monday, June 1, the council heard from Zach Thoma, Moore Engineering, that Spruce Valley has substantially completed the project.
“The final date on that will probably be May 29th. THat was kind of when they wrapped up the main stuff,” Thoma said. “We’ll issue the substantial completion and that will start the one-year warranty period for them – that’ll get one extra winter out of this on a warranty period to make sure nothing goes wrong or is settling, or things like that.”
The company and its subcontractors completed items such as seeding, sidewalks and curbs, and now just have some additional cleanup to complete.
Thoma said they are also working through a few issues with driveways and two sprinkler systems that were damaged during construction. Mayor Dave Treumer said he visited with Bill Berg, on-site project manager, about these damages, who said the company said they did not break the sprinkler heads.
“If they use the same care taking out a sprinkler system as they did taking out mailboxes, then I know they’re broken,” Treumer said. “And then I always hear, and this is beginning to bother me, ‘Well, that’s in the public right-of-way, so it’s not our problem.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know, but we don’t just do that to people.’”
This is an item on the final punch list for the construction company.
